There are more than 1,8 million reasons to end the blockade of the #Gaza Strip, and to end it now.
This is a call to the citizens of the world and to our governments: 1,8 million people, nearly half of them children live in what has many times been compared to an open-air prison. The blockade was imposed by #Israel and is upheld also by Egypt. The inhuman and socially as well as economically crippling blockade on the Gaza strip is entering its 9th year.
There will be no peace without justice and no sustainable development in the region and for the Palestinian people without an end to occupation and the blockade.
Without an end to the blockade, water and other natural resources, essential for human life, will continue to deteriorate.
Without an end to the blockade, there is no possibility for real re-construction and development of a war-ridden, devastated enclave. The sea should be the route to the world, not another wall. #Freedom of movement is a human right.
International law must be respected. Through the #Freedom Flotilla civil society now takes action. We expect safe passage for the peaceful vessels of the Freedom Flotilla. There are no ‘unauthorized boats’ only an illegal blockade.
We demand:
-
Open the crossings
-
Open safe passage between Gaza, West Bank and East Jerusalem
-
And finally open Gaza port, the port of Palestine.
